OCU preparing to seize UOC church in Malynivka, Rivne Eparchy says
Supporters of the OCU plan to hold a new assembly on changing the jurisdiction of the Paraskeva church in Malynivka without the participation of the believing community.
In the village of Malynivka, Rivne district, attempts continue to organize an assembly on the issue of changing the jurisdictional affiliation of the religious community of the Paraskeva church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the press service of the Rivne Diocese of the UOC.
As the diocese notes, the religious community of the church is officially registered as a community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Malynivka.
According to information from the Hoshcha deanery, on July 11, local activists supporting the transfer of the parish to the OCU attempted to hold a corresponding assembly on the premises of the village council. However, according to available information, it did not take place.
According to information from unofficial sources, on July 18 a new attempt is planned to hold such an assembly on the premises of the local school. The diocese notes that it may take place without the participation of members of the UOC religious community.
In connection with this, the Hoshcha deanery called on the clergy and faithful to intensify prayers for peace, the unity of the Church, the observance of the rule of law, and the prevention of conflicts. The diocese also appealed to all potential participants in the events with a call to act exclusively within the framework of the current legislation of Ukraine, to respect the rights of the religious community, and to prevent violence or confrontation.
As the UOJ reported, the Rivne Diocese reported on the situation with a mobilized 59-year-old cleric.
