Vandals desecrated a Holocaust memorial in Dnipropetrovsk region
In Dnipropetrovsk region, vandals painted Nazi symbols and antisemitic inscriptions on a Holocaust memorial and damaged its granite surface.
On July 21, 2026, in the city of Samar, Dnipropetrovsk region, unknown individuals desecrated the memorial "Remember for the Future," dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust, according to the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine.
The vandals painted Nazi symbols and antisemitic inscriptions on the monument and damaged its granite surface.
The memorial was erected in memory of nearly four thousand civilians shot during the Nazi occupation. Among those killed were 360 children.
Samar Mayor Serhiy Reznyk stated that he had contacted law enforcement and announced a reward of 50,000 hryvnias for credible information that would help identify those responsible for the vandalism. Informants were guaranteed anonymity if necessary.
According to Reznyk, those responsible must be held accountable not only for desecrating a place of remembrance, but also for the use of Nazi symbols and antisemitic slogans. The city authorities promised to restore the damaged memorial, while law enforcement pledged to identify and punish the perpetrators.
The Union of Orthodox Journalists previously reported that unknown individuals robbed an ancient Russian Orthodox Church temple in Tehran.
