A safety violation during repair work caused the church dome to catch fire.
The dome of a church in the village of Toporivtsi, Chernivtsi Region, caught fire during repair work. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the entire building, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi Region reports.
The fire broke out on July 23, 2026, while electric cutting work was being carried out inside the church. Witnesses noticed flames near the dome in time and immediately called the emergency services. Thanks to the firefighters’ prompt arrival, the blaze was contained to a small area.
