Kyiv TRC abducts Kytaiv Hermitage priest
TRC officers took the UOC priest to Zhytomyr Region, where he is allegedly being forced to take the military oath.
TRC officers abducted Archpriest Ihor near the walls of the UOC’s Holy Trinity Kytaiv Monastery in Kyiv and took him to Zhytomyr Region. At the time of publication, the cleric was being held at a military distribution center, the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel reports.
The abduction took place on July 20 directly outside the monastery grounds. The military recruitment officers who detained the priest promised to release him but instead took him to another region. Fr. Ihor is now being held at a mobilization center, where he is allegedly being pressured to take the military oath and bear arms.
Orthodox Christians have already raised the funds needed to hire a lawyer to defend the priest’s rights and secure his release as soon as possible.
As the UOJ reported, the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Eparchy previously disclosed the number of its clerics who have been mobilized or killed.
