The Ecumenical Patriarch was presented with a Ukrainian translation of the Athonite Typikon, intended to introduce Greek traditions into the OCU.

Patriarch Bartholomew received a delegation of OCU clergy from the Ivano-Frankivsk region at his residence. The meeting took place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with the participation of a representative of the Holy Mountain of Athos.

The delegation included clergy of the OCU's Ivano-Frankivsk and Galicia Eparchy. They were accompanied by Archimandrite Bartholomew, abbot of the New Esphigmenou Monastery on Mount Athos. The main purpose of the audience was the presentation of the Ukrainian translation of the book The Athonite Typikon of Church Services.

The head of the Phanar was presented with the work of the brotherhood of New Esphigmenou Monastery, which prepared an adaptation of the Greek liturgical typikon for use in Ukraine. The Ukrainian translation is intended to introduce Byzantine liturgical practices into the everyday life of the OCU.

As the UOJ previously reported, an auxiliary bishop of the Odesa Eparchy spoke about whether the UOC is holding talks with the Phanar.
