Orthodox pilgrims from Volyn are heading to Pochaiv for the August 5 celebrations marking the feast of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God.

A religious procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has begun from Kovel, Volyn region, heading toward Volodymyr, reports the Telegram channel ternopiloblvidkat.

Upon arriving in Volodymyr, the participants will continue their pilgrimage to the Pochaiv Dormition Lavra.

Traditionally, Orthodox Christians from across Ukraine flock to the monastery to take part in the communal celebration of the feast day of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God, which will be held on August 5.

The published video shows hundreds of the faithful making their way to the Orthodox monastery in prayer, carrying holy objects.

Every year, thousands of believers travel to Pochaiv, both as part of religious processions and on their own, to venerate the Lavra’s shrines and pray together before the miraculous Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God.

As the UOJ reported, DESS gave the Pochaiv Lavra 30 days to break ties with Moscow.
