A site for the construction of a new church was consecrated in the Alexandrian Diocese
On the feast day of Venerable Seraphim of Sarov, Metropolitan Bogolep laid a capsule in the foundation of a new church.
Metropolitan Bogolep of Alexandría and Svitlovodsk consecrated a site for the construction of a church in honor of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous. The new shrine will be built on the grounds of the Transfiguration Monastery of the Savior in the village of Talova Balka. This was reported by the UOC Information Center.
The solemn service and the laying of the foundation stone took place on August 1, 2026, on the feast day of Venerable Seraphim of Sarov. The celebration began with the Divine Liturgy, during which the clergy and laity offered a fervent prayer for peace on Ukrainian soil, for the soldier-defenders, and for all the destitute.
The hierarch was co-served by the spiritual father of the diocese and the abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Seraphim (Krasnov), as well as the deans of the Svitlovodsk, Onufriyivka, and Alexandría districts.
After the Liturgy, the participants of the celebration proceeded in a religious procession to the site of the future construction. Metropolitan Bogolep performed the rite of the laying of the church's foundation, sprinkled the site with holy water, and invoked God's blessing upon the good work. The hierarch also congratulated the prior of the monastery on the feast day of his heavenly patron and addressed the flock with a hierarchal homily.
As the UOJ reported, a capsule was laid in the foundation of a new UOC church in the village of Mokrets.
