UOC-KP Elected a Cleric Who Transferred from the OCU as "Bishop"
OCU cleric Alexei Nikolishin, along with his community, was received into the UOC-KP.
The UOC-KP announced that it had received into its ranks OCU cleric Alexei Nikolishin together with the Resurrection community of the village of Ozerna in Ternopil Oblast.
Following this, the Synod of the Kyiv Patriarchate decided to elect Nikolishin as "Bishop of Ternopil and Buchach."
The time and place of his monastic tonsure and subsequent episcopal "ordination" in the UOC-KP were promised to be announced later.
The OCU spoke out against this development and announced "a ban on the priestly ministry of priest Alexei Nikolishin" on the grounds of "gross violation of canonical order, disobedience and disrespect toward his bishop, participation in unlawful assemblies and actions aimed at causing a schism within the Orthodox Church of Ukraine."
Earlier, the SPJ reported on the transfer to the UOC-KP of yet another OCU cleric.
