UOC-KP ‘ordains’ former OCU cleric as ‘bishop’
The leader of the non-canonical group, “Patriarch” Nikodym Kobzar, performed the “ordination” of a cleric in the Khmelnytskyi region.
UOC-KP head Nikodym Kobzar has “ordained” former OCU cleric Oleksandr Nikolishyn as “Bishop of Ternopil and Buchach,” according to the group’s Facebook page.
According to the post, on August 5, 2026, Nikodym presided over a “liturgy” at the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Hruzevytsia, Khmelnytskyi region, where Nikolishyn serves as rector.
During the religious service, “Hieromonk” Spiridon (Oleksandr Nikolishyn) was “ordained” as “Bishop of Ternopil and Buchach.”
As UOJ reported, the UOC-KP had previously elected the former OCU cleric as its “bishop.”
