Dumenko and Ambassador to Poland seek understanding between countries
The head of the OCU discussed historical disputes between Ukraine and Poland with Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar.
The head of the OCU Epifaniy Dumenko discussed with Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar the ways of achieving reconciliation in bilateral relations. The meeting took place on August 7, 2026, at the residence of the OCU Primate at the Saint Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv, reports the OCU press service.
The discussion was also attended by OCU spokesperson Evstratiy Zorya. The main topic of the conversation was the search for mutual understanding between Ukraine and Poland on complex historical issues. The participants noted that the tragic chapters of the past of both countries should not determine the current state or future of Ukrainian-Polish relations. In their view, these relations should be built solely on the principles of mutual respect and forgiveness.
In addition to historical disputes, the parties touched upon the religious and socio-political situation both in Ukraine itself and in the world. The interlocutors discussed in detail the issues of countering Russian aggression and other topical subjects of mutual interest to the parties.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Dumenko explained to Polish politicians how to overcome historical divisions.
