Kamianets-Podilskyi Icon-Painting School completes admissions campaign
The St Luke the Apostle and Evangelist Kamianets-Podilskyi Theological School of Icon Painting has completed its admissions campaign. Following the competitive selection process, the admissions committee recommended eight applicants for enrollment in the first year.
The school held its entrance examinations for the new academic year on August 11–12, 2026. Applicants submitted motivation letters, took creative and oral examinations, and underwent interviews.
The examiners assessed the applicants’ artistic preparation, basic knowledge of the Orthodox faith, personal motivation, and readiness for four years of intensive work. Teachers and applicants began all examinations with prayer together.
“For an icon painter, ability is only the beginning,” Rector Archpriest Vadym Hadzhaman said. “The road ahead requires patience, discipline, an ecclesial mindset, and responsibility before the sacred image. It was precisely this readiness for such training that we sought to see in every applicant.”
After the results were announced, the school administration held a parents’ meeting to explain the principles of the educational process to the students’ families.
The theological school operates under the archpastoral care of Metropolitan Feodor of Kamianets-Podilskyi and Horodok. The institution trains future icon painters over a four-year program. Graduates receive qualifications as icon painters and teachers of icon-painting disciplines.
The curriculum combines theological, artistic, and technical subjects and culminates in the painting of a graduation icon.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that graduates of the icon-painting school in Kamianets-Podilskyi had received their diplomas.
