UOC Priest Who Went Missing After Contact with SBU Has Made Contact
Mobilized priest Andriy Denysenko informed his family that he is alive and is located at a military unit.
On August 14, 2026, priest Andriy Denysenko made contact with his family after he had been taken from a training ground by SBU officers. This was reported by UOC lawyer Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
Father Andriy said that he is feeling well and is currently located at a military unit. He confirmed that he had undergone interrogations, but said that he is now doing fine. The priest conveyed words of sincere gratitude to all those who were worried about him, supported his family and prayed, and noted that he felt this prayerful support.
As Archpriest Nikita recounted, after contact with Father Andriy was lost, lawyers immediately took legal measures aimed at establishing his whereabouts, clarifying the circumstances and legal grounds for his transfer, and ensuring that his rights were observed. The priest thanked all those who spread information about the situation, supported his family and prayed for Father Andriy.
As the UOJ reported, priest Andriy Denysenko disappeared after SBU officers took him from a training ground. On June 25, 2026, the priest was detained by patrol police officers and brought to the TCC. He was later sent to the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, where he was undergoing training. The last time the priest made contact was on July 26.
