Court hearing in Metropolitan Longin's case postponed due to deterioration of his health
The Hertsaivsky court has postponed the hearing in Metropolitan Longin (Zhar)'s case to August 26.
The Hertsaivsky District Court of Chernivtsi Oblast has postponed the hearing in the case of Metropolitan Longin of Banchensky to August 26, 2026. This was reported by cvnews.cv.ua.
The reason for the postponement was the inability of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to participate in the proceedings, as he is undergoing medical treatment in Romania.
During the online broadcast of the hearing, judge Nadezhda Kostyshin asked why Metropolitan Longin had left Ukraine knowing the scheduled date of the hearings.
The defense counsel explained that the bishop, who has heart problems, had been in Romania where his health condition deteriorated.
When the court asked when the Metropolitan would be able to return to Ukraine, the lawyer was unable to provide a specific date.
As the UOJ reported, on September 23, 2025, another hearing of the Hertsaivsky District Court in the case of Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) was interrupted due to the deterioration of the Metropolitan's health: during the hearing he suffered a hypertensive crisis.
