KDA Publishes Textbook on the History of Local Orthodox Churches

The first part of the textbook "History of Local Orthodox Churches" has been published at the Kyiv Theological Schools.

The first part of the textbook "History of Local Orthodox Churches" has been published at the Kyiv Theological Academy. This was reported by the KDA press service.

The textbook was prepared by Professor of the Kyiv Theological Academy Volodymyr Bureha in accordance with the curriculum of the 4th year of the Kyiv Theological Seminary.

The book consists of three thematic sections. The first is devoted to the system of world Orthodoxy — the territorial principle of the spread of canonical jurisdiction, the concepts of autocephaly and autonomy, as well as questions of primacy in the Universal Church, diptychs, and the Orthodox diaspora. The second section contains historical essays on the four ancient patriarchates — Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem — in the 20th and early 21st centuries. The third section covers the historical paths of the Russian, Georgian, and Serbian Orthodox Churches as patriarchates that took shape after the Ecumenical Councils.

The publication is already available for purchase in the church online store "Titlo – Tserkovna Knyha." In the future, a second part of the textbook is planned, which will include essays on the Romanian and Bulgarian Patriarchates, as well as on Local Churches with the status of archbishoprics and metropolises — the Churches of Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Albania, and the Czech Lands and Slovakia. A separate section will be devoted to Churches that do not have full recognition in the Orthodox world.

As the UOJ reported, KDA published a book on the history of the UOC.
