Dumenko “consecrates” Lviv premises donated to city by UOC eparchy
The OCU head visited Lviv and “consecrated” a new building of the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center in premises that previously belonged to the UOC’s Lviv Eparchy.
On August 18, 2026, OCU head Serhiy Dumenko visited Lviv, where, at the invitation of local OCU “bishops” and city authorities, he “consecrated” a new building of the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center on Pekarska Street. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported this on Facebook.
According to Sadovyi, after the “consecration,” Dumenko spoke with servicemen undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the center and also laid the foundation for a future church dedicated to the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos on the adjoining grounds.
As the UOJ previously reported, the opening of the new UNBROKEN building on August 6 was accompanied by controversy. UOC Metropolitan Filaret (Kucherov) was invited to the ceremony, where he read out the official church document transferring the building to the First Territorial Medical Association.
This sparked a wave of outrage. Seeking to justify himself before the radical-minded public, Andriy Sadovyi claimed that he had not invited the UOC representative and had not approved the guest list, calling the situation “a very bad story.”
