In Sumy, RF shelling damaged the UOC Presentation Church again
The domes, roof, and windows of the Presentation Church of the Sumy Diocese were damaged as a result of shelling.
On the night of August 21, 2026, the Presentation Church of the Sumy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was damaged once again as a result of Russian shelling. This was reported by the diocesan press service.
The blast wave damaged the church's domes and roof, and also shattered windows and window panes. The Presentation Church is located in the so-called Kursk district of Sumy, on Pobedy Avenue, and has already sustained damage from shelling by Russian forces on multiple occasions, as this part of the city is regularly subjected to attacks.
Despite the danger and destruction, the parish community continues to lead an active church life. Prayers are offered in the church for Ukraine's defenders, for all those affected by the war, and for the coming of a just and blessed peace. The diocese expressed hope that through combined efforts the damaged shrine will be restored and the life of the parish will continue in full.
The Sumy Diocese called upon the clergy and faithful to offer intensified prayers for the parish of the Presentation Church, its rector and parishioners, as well as for peace and the end of the war.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Presentation Church of the UOC in Sumy was damaged as a result of another RF shelling.
