Pastor Lorenzo Sewell accused Dearborn city officials of patronizing Sharia law by allowing Islamists to act with impunity.

Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell condemned the Dearborn City Council for favoring Islamic law at the expense of U.S. law. The preacher voiced his protest at an open city council meeting in Michigan, The Christian Post reports.

According to the pastor, city authorities are granting the Muslim community unjustified privileges under the pretext of protecting religious freedom. His criticism was prompted by what he described as lenient treatment by police of Islamists following the beating of an activist during a religious procession.

“This is a city that is no longer up under American laws; we are up under Sharia law,” Pastor Lorenzo Sewell said. “We will not have it anymore. Enough is enough,” he added.

The preacher noted that Muslims make up only one percent of the country’s total population. For this reason, he argued, they have no right to impose their rules on the majority of Americans. Sewell called on the council to restore the primacy of U.S. law in the city.

As the UOJ reported, thousands of Muslims in the United States took part in a march marking an Islamic holiday.
