Vinnytsia Metropolitan served a memorial service for the murdered monk of the Svyatogorsk Lavra
The Vinnytsia hierarch prayed for the newly-departed monk Varsanuphius.
Metropolitan Varsanuphius of Vinnytsia and Bar served a memorial service for the newly-departed monk Varsanuphius (Turyansky), who was brutally murdered at Svyatogorsk Lavra. This was reported by the Vinnytsia Diocese on Facebook.
The hierarch also prayed for the repose of the founder of the Lemeshevsky men's monastery, Archimandrite Theodosius (Shklyaruk), on the tenth anniversary of his death.
As a reminder, the armed attack on Svyatogorsk Lavra took place on August 23, 2026, at around 11:00. An unknown man broke onto the monastery grounds and inflicted severe stab wounds on the residents of the monastery. As a result of the attack, monk Varsanuphius died on the spot, while monk Grigory and novice Andrei Kirienko sustained life-threatening injuries.
