OCU ‘bishop’ in Rivne ‘consecrates’ icons on armor plates for British prince
OCU “Metropolitan” Hilarion in Rivne “consecrated” an image of St. George the Victorious painted on armor plates for Prince Harry.
At the Intercession Cathedral in Rivne, OCU “hierarch” Hilarion performed the “consecration” of two icons painted on armor plates previously used at the front, Rivne1.tv reports.
The icons are said to have been created as part of the Art Armor project using armor plates that had seen combat while protecting the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. The images are intended for British Prince Harry and Invictus Games Foundation CEO Richard Smith.
The ceremony was attended by Rivne Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Koval, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Kovalchuk, and other officials who initiated the creation of the icons on armor plates.
An image of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious was prepared for Prince Harry. According to the organizers, the choice of St. George carries special symbolic significance because he is the patron saint of England. They also say the distinctive feature of the icons lies primarily in the material itself: the armor plates used as their base bear marks from projectile impacts.
As the UOJ reported, icons painted on ammunition crates were previously exhibited at St. Sophia of Kyiv.
