Pochaiv Lavra calls for fasting ahead of court hearing on the ban of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC
The monastery's brotherhood asks to intensify prayers and observe a fast on September 7 and 8.
The Spiritual Council of Pochaiv Lavra has called upon the brotherhood, pilgrims, and all believers to spend September 7 and 8 in fasting and intensified prayer on the eve of the court hearing concerning the termination of the activities of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The appeal was published in the Telegram channel "Pochaiv Leaflet".
The court hearing is scheduled for September 10 and, as noted by the lavra, may affect the further fate of the shrine.
"We call upon all — the brotherhood, pilgrims, and faithful children of the Church — to offer sincere prayer to the Lord, asking for His mercy and protection," the appeal of the Spiritual Council states.
Believers were urged to spend September 7 and 8 in fasting and intensified prayer, uniting their spiritual efforts with a plea to God to preserve the Church and the Pochaiv shrine.
"May our common spiritual labor become a sacrifice, so that the Lord may strengthen and preserve His holy Church and our shrine," the monastery wrote.
As the UOJ reported, more than 10,000 UOC believers have submitted applications in defense of the Kyiv Metropolis.
