At the Karakallou Kellion, Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos celebrated the Liturgy and consecrated the new church.

Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos consecrated a new church dedicated to the Entrance of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple at the Karakallou Kellion on Mount Athos, UOJ in Greece reports.

The metropolitan celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy and the rite of consecration together with Athonite monks. The service was attended by the kellion’s elder, Fr. Prodromos, and the brotherhood, monks from Karakallou Monastery, as well as representatives of the Athonite monasteries of Simonopetra and Xenophontos.

Before the rite began, clergy and faithful held a procession from the Church of the Annunciation to the new church. After the service, the brotherhood hosted a festive meal.

The Athonite kellion holds particular spiritual significance: in its old church, St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite and Elder Niphon the Koinobiarch received monastic tonsure.

As the UOJ reported, three previously unknown copies of the Ostroh Bible were discovered on Mount Athos.
