The Bulgarian Patriarchate celebrated the Translation of the Relics of Alexander Nevsky

Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria led the liturgy on August 30 at the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Sofia on the occasion of the feast of the Translation of his Relics. This was reported on the website bg-patriarshia.

The Orthodox Church annually commemorates on August 30 the Translation of the Relics of the holy right-believing Prince Alexander Nevsky from Vladimir to Saint Petersburg, which took place in the 18th century. The divine service in Sofia was led by Patriarch Daniel, with whom concelebrated Bishop Gerasim of Melnik, Bishop John of Branitsa, Bishop Isaac of Velevuzhd, and the cathedral clergy.

In his homily, Patriarch Daniel spoke about the life and deeds of the holy prince, noting his unwavering stance and complete trust in Divine Providence. According to the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, these qualities of the saint remain an example for every Christian soul.

As the UOJ reported, pilgrims in Bulgaria walked 120 km in a cross procession to the Rila Monastery.

The Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Sofia, the largest Orthodox church in Bulgaria, was built in the early 20th century in memory of the Russian soldiers who died during the liberation of the country from Ottoman rule.
