His Beatitude leads patronal feast at Kyiv church in Darnytsia district
The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the patronal feast of the Church of the Light-Painted Icon of the Mother of God in Kyiv’s Darnytsia district. This was reported by the UOC Information and Education Department.
Concelebrating with the Primate were Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Archbishop Ambrose of Zghurivka, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, as well as local clergy and visiting clergy. After the Gospel reading, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry delivered a sermon to the parishioners.
During the Liturgy, clergy and laypeople offered prayers for peace in the Ukrainian land. The faithful asked God to deliver the country from the enemy, grant wisdom to the authorities, give courage to the soldiers, free those in captivity, and heal the sick.
During the festive service, the Primate ordained Serhiy Dovhyi to the diaconate. The new cleric will continue his diaconal ministry at the church.
The service concluded with a rite of glorification before the revered icon of the Mother of God. After the dismissal, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry congratulated the parishioners and blessed the faithful.
As the UOJ reported, the UOC Primate previously presided over the rite of glorification of Blessed Olga of Kyiv’s Florovsky Convent.
