Norwegian Council of Churches briefs UCCRO on defence against possible aggression
Scandinavian religious leaders stressed the importance of Ukrainian military experience for Norway as it prepares for possible aggression.
In Kyiv, the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UOOC) held a meeting with a delegation of the Norwegian Council of Churches, whose representatives said that this year in their country is marked by preparations to defend the state against possible military aggression.
The Scandinavian religious leaders expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and confirmed their readiness to help achieve a just and lasting peace. They stressed that, as Norway prepares for possible aggression, Ukraine's practical experience and the activities of Ukrainian churches are especially important to them.
For their part, representatives of Ukrainian denominations, chaired by the head of the OCU Epifaniy (Dumenko), briefed the guests on their spiritual and humanitarian-social work in wartime conditions and separately drew the guests' attention to religious persecution in the occupied territories.
UCCRO representatives thanked the Norwegian Council of Churches for humanitarian aid, support for Ukrainian refugees, and the organization of the Ukrainian delegation's visit to Oslo. Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue bilateral dialogue and cooperation.
As the UOJ reported, UCCRO members told the US ambassador how they protect religious freedom.
