OCU opens registration desk for "services" at Lavra
A former church shop at the UOC monastery takes prayer notes and registers visitors for OCU "services".
On October 11, 2026, the Telegram channel "Fortetsia Lavra" reported of the OCU's "registartion desk" that appeared in the former church shop of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
According to the authors of the post, after the monastery was closed, the premises were used by police units guarding the Lavra. The notice "Registration desk of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine" is now displayed on the door.
According to the notice, visitors are offered information about the schedule for visiting the caves and the "services" at the churches of the Lower Lavra, as well as the chance to sign up for the "services". Notes for the health of the living and repose of the departed are also accepted here for the brethren to pray over.
The channel's authors suggested that the opening of the desk is an attempt to attract tourists and create the impression of a functioning OCU monastic community. They also drew attention to the name "registration desk", comparing it with the familiar names "church shop" and "candle desk".
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a UOC church seized in 2022 will be handed to the nonexistent OCU parish in Kalush.
