Persecuted Intercession parish celebrates patronal feast in Hostomel
Archbishop Spyridon of Dobropillia and Bishop Arkadiy of Hostomel celebrated the Liturgy in adapted premises for the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.
On October 14, 2026, on the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, the persecuted community of the Intercession Church in the village of Hostomel, Kyiv region, celebrated its patronal feast. As reported by the Pokrovsky and Central Kyiv Vicariates, the Liturgy was celebrated by Archbishop Spyridon of Dobropillia and Bishop Arkadiy of Hostomel.
The Intercession Church was seized four years ago, so services are now held in adapted premises.
As the UOJ reported, after local authorities handed the church over to the OCU, armed men tried to seize it by force. The church was then sealed. Despite the pressure, the believers remained faithful to the UOC and continued their liturgical life in an adapted space.
They celebrated the patronal feast in prayer together with two hierarchs.
