Hundreds of believers honor St. Alexis of Carpatho-Russia in Khust Eparchy
At the St. Nicholas Monastery in the village of Iza-Karputlash, Metropolitan Mark of Khust led a festive liturgy, concelebrated by six metropolitans, five archbishops and three bishops.
The Khust Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church marked the 25th anniversary of the glorification of St. Alexis of Carpatho-Russia. As reported by the eparchy's press service, the festive service was held at the St. Nicholas Monastery in the village of Iza-Karputlash on October 21, 2026.
The Divine Liturgy was led by the ruling bishop of the eparchy, Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv, concelebrated by Metropolitans Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets, Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Ioann of Kherson and Tavria, Agapit of Mohyliv-Podilskyi and Sharhorod, and Theodore of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod. The service was also celebrated by Archbishops Sylvester of Bilhorod, Simeon of Uholka (vicar bishop of the Khust Eparchy), Lavr of Irpin, Mark of Borodianka and Athanasiy of Kamin-Kashyrskyi. Among the concelebrants were Bishops Benjamin of Skadovsk, Hilarion of Svaliava and Mark of Rakhiv (vicar bishop of Khust Eparchy).
Hundreds of the faithful prayed at the service, remembering St. Alexis. In the eparchy, he is called an ascetic of piety who, through his life and labors, left a notable mark in the history of Orthodoxy in Transcarpathia. The anniversary provided an occasion for communal prayer and for giving thanks to God for his example of holiness and faithfulness to the Orthodox faith.
As the UOJ reported, the glorification of St. Alexis of Carpatho-Russia among the saints took place 25 years ago, and every year the ascetic is commemorated in the churches of Transcarpathia.
