Historic synagogue to be restored in Stryi
Stryi authorities and the Spadshchyna.UA foundation presented a concept for restoring a historic synagogue and creating a cultural center in it.
In Stryi, Lviv region, a project has been launched to restore and adapt to modern needs a local architectural monument – the Great Synagogue, reports Rayon.Morshyn.
On October 25, 2026, as part of the Jewish Cultural Heritage Week of the Lviv region, a presentation of the concept of the future cultural center took place by candlelight in the ruins of the synagogue.
The founder of the Spadshchyna.UA charitable foundation, Anna Havryliv, presented the restoration plan and discussed with local residents options for using the synagogue, in which cultural and educational events are planned to be held.
The old building, dated in cultural heritage documents to 1858 and to the end of the 19th century, is currently in a ruined state. The authors of the initiative hope to attract international partnership and funding in order to preserve the architectural monument and recall the multicultural history of the city.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Zelensky made the list of the most influential Jews in the world.
