The Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary (KDAiS) has published two new textbooks for theological schools of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), covering the Four Gospels and Orthodox catechism.

The first part of the textbook "History of Local Orthodox Churches" has been published at the Kyiv Theological Schools.

The first is an expanded second edition of The Holy Scriptures of the New Testament: The Four Gospels, written by Archimandrite Theophan (Medzhidov), a professor at the Kyiv Theological Academy. The textbook is intended for students studying the Gospels in chronological order, as well as clergy and anyone interested in biblical studies.

In the updated edition, the author draws on recent advances in biblical scholarship and his many years of teaching experience, paying particular attention to the historical, cultural, and linguistic context of the sacred texts.

The second textbook, Catechism, was written by Archdeacon Nikodim (Shevchuk) and is based on a lecture course for seminarians. It offers a systematic presentation of Orthodox Christian doctrine, organized into three sections corresponding to the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and love.

The book provides detailed explanations of the Nicene Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the Beatitudes, and the Ten Commandments. Each section concludes with review questions and a list of recommended reading.

Both textbooks were published with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the UOC, and on the recommendation of the KDAiS Academic Council. The books are already available for purchase at the Academy's Church of St. John of Damascus and through an online church bookstore.

As the UOJ previously reported, KDAiS also published a volume on Orthodoxy in 17th-century Ukraine.
