Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree awarding U.S. First Lady Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, in recognition of her personal contributions to humanitarian relief and efforts to rescue children, Ukrinform reports.
Melania Trump was honored for her human rights advocacy and charitable work supporting people affected by the war, including those unlawfully deported. In a separate decree, Zelensky awarded her senior adviser, Marc Beckman, the presidential Golden Heart distinction for helping evacuate civilians.
Earlier, Melania Trump publicly initiated and helped broker a temporary local ceasefire in Oleshky, Kherson region, to allow a humanitarian operation to take place. Beckman coordinated the effort. The U.S. first lady also announced plans for a White House meeting involving Ukrainian and Russian representatives to discuss a localized ceasefire.
As the UOJ previously reported, Zelensky also decided to honor employees of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve.
