MP on Upper Lavra court case: Awaiting SBU reaction
MP Solomiya Bobrovska expressed displeasure over UOC believers outside the court building in the Upper Lavra case and said she is awaiting a reaction from the SBU.
MP Solomiya Bobrovska commented on the latest session of the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal in the Upper Lavra case, saying that she is awaiting a reaction from the Security Service of Ukraine to this process.
Bobrovska expressed displeasure at the large number of UOC believers who came to the court building to support the Church. "I was truly struck today by the number of elderly women who come to these court hearings," the MP said, and thanked the radical activists who come to the hearings and "explain" to UOC believers that they are dragging the country into "some kind of evil empire."
Bobrovska also called on the special services to intervene in the court proceedings. "I also expect a reaction from the Security Service and, of course, that the court will make the right decision, as an independent judicial branch of power, and the Ukrainian Lavra will be Ukrainian," the MP stated, adding that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and other holy sites "must finally be freed from Moscow's influence and FSB agents."
In addition, the MP demanded the elimination of the UOC's presence in other regions as well, mentioning the Korets Convent in the Rivne region and the UOC church in Ostroh. "There is a lot of work ahead," the MP concluded.
This is not the first time Bobrovska has spoken out against UOC believers with a call for the SBU to react. Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Bobrovska expressed hope for systematic work by the SBU with UOC believers. This was her response to accusations of inciting religious hatred after her words that fundraising by UOC believers in Rivne for children with cancer is a "threat to national security."
