Kropyvnytskyi prosecutors seek to seize UOC land for church construction
In Kropyvnytskyi, the Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit demanding that a plot of land allocated for church construction be taken from a UOC community.
In Kropyvnytskyi, the district Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit in court demanding that a land plot in the Dendropark, allocated for church construction, be taken from a UOC community, reports the local portal "Grechka".
In May 2012, the Kropyvnytskyi City Council transferred 0.5 hectares of land for permanent use to the parish of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God of the Kirovohrad Eparchy of the UOC. The community planned to build a church on this plot.
Now the prosecutors claim that the allocation of the plot for development was unlawful, since this territory belongs to the nature reserve fund of the Dendropark. In the lawsuit, the Prosecutor's Office demands that the state registration of the plot be canceled and the community's right of permanent use be annulled.
The Commercial Court of the Kirovohrad Region has already opened proceedings in the case. A preparatory hearing has been scheduled for December 1, 2026.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Kropyvnytskyi City Council gave the UOC's Intercession Church to the OCU.
