Pan-Orthodox conference in Corinth adopts document on occultism
Representatives of 11 Local Orthodox Churches signed a final document on divination and astrology in Greece.
The 36th Pan-Orthodox Conference of Representatives of Local Orthodox Churches and Metropolias on Heresies and Sects has concluded in the Metropolia of Corinth of the Church of Greece. Participants adopted and signed a final document outlining their conclusions on magic, divination, astrology, and futurology, UOJ-Greece reports.
Delegates from 11 Local Orthodox Churches and 76 metropolias attended the conference, held under the auspices of Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece. The event was organized by the Church of Greece's Synodal Commission on Heresies and the Metropolia of Corinth. At the opening session, a message from Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople addressing the issue of occult practices was read aloud.
Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus, chairman of the Synodal Commission, presented the final document. Following discussion and revisions, authorized representatives of all participating Churches signed it. The delegates tasked Metropolitan Seraphim with submitting the document to the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece for approval and subsequent distribution to all Local Orthodox Churches.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to a hierarch of the Church of Greece, Christianity is under a deliberate attack by a global system seeking to create a “universal religion.”
