Cross procession with Athonite sanctities was held in Chernigov UOC diocese

On the occasion of celebrating the Baptism Day of the Kievan Rus and 1000 anniversary of the Old Russian monkhood on Holy Mt. Athos, there were held divine services and the cross procession in Chernigov diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is reported by Gorod.cn.ua.

On 31 July, a Divine Liturgy took place in the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Following the Liturgy the faithful gathered for the cross procession from the Cathedral to the St. Anthony caves, carrying an icon of Anthony of the Kiev Caves.

The police officers ensured the procession safety. There was held another worship service near the church of St. Elijah. 

It will be reminded the icons were made on purpose for Ukraine on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the old Russian monkhood on Athos and were sanctified on the Holy Mount.
