Children from front zone thank "Athos" Charitable Foundation for travel to Odessa

The founder of the "Orthodox heritage of Ukraine on Mount Athos" Charitable Foundation Dmitry Vorona received a thank-you letter from the mother superior of the Holy Dormition of St. Nicholas-Vasilievsky Convent (in the village of Nikolskoye in the Volnovakha district, Donetsk region) for organizing a trip to Odessa for displaced children from the ATO zone who lost their homes and are temporarily living in the convent, reports the "Ukrainian Orthodox heritage on Mount Athos" charity.

"I sincerely thank you for arranging and covering the cost of a trip to the city of Odessa undertaken by the children of the Sunday school of the convent. You gave immense joy to children living in the front zone, which they need so much," reads the letter.

Also as a sign of gratitude for the trip the children handed over to the charity self-made souvenirs, which will enlarge the collection of the Foundation’s museum, and monastery tea.

"It is important that in this difficult time, we were able to give a piece of happiness to the children who at their young age already know, unfortunately, what war is. That is why in the work of our foundation we pay special attention to small but good deeds that resonate in the hearts of the young. And this is even more pleasant to hold in the hands gifts made by young craftsmen from the heart," said the founder of the "Ukraine Orthodox heritage on Mount Athos" Charitable Foundation Dmitry Vorona.

At present the charity "Ukraine Orthodox heritage on Mount Athos" is holding an art contest "A gift to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker" in the social network on their Facebook page.

Children aged 5-12 are welcome to take part in the competition, drawing their good deeds. Parents should "Like" the page, share the post of the contest and send a photo (or a scanned copy) of the picture with a brief description of the story (also indicating the name and age of the child), to the official fund page (leave a personal message or attach to the page) until 19 December 2016.

All pictures will be published on the official page of the "Ukraine Orthodox heritage on Mount Athos" Charity Foundation in the social network Facebook. Voting will be held through "likes" on December 19, 2016.

The three winners, getting the highest number of "likes", will be rewarded with a set of hexagonal coloured pencils Marco Raffine (72 pencils in a set).

The first 50 participants who send their works to the contest will be granted sweet prizes from the Fund.
