Conflict around Ternopil diocese continues in UAOC

The meeting of the Diocesan Council scheduled for May 10 in the consistory of the Ternopil diocese of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church chaired by the head of the UAOC, Metropolitan Makarii, was postponed, reports the UAOC website.

"The clergy and believers require the Primate of the UAOC to observe the rules of conciliarity and expect an official decision on the situation in the Ternopil and Khmelnytsky dioceses of the UAOC," writes the website.

As reported by the UOJ, earlier the meeting of the UAOC in Kiev, without warning, had dismissed the head of the Ternopil diocese of the UAOC Bishop Viktor (Bed’) of Mukacheve and the Carpathian and appointed a new head of the diocese – Metropolitan Makarii (Maletich).

The diocese representatives informed that they were determined to stand up for Viktor (Bed’) as the head.

According to the media, on May 7, the head of the UAOC Metropolitan Makarii urgently arrived in Ternopil to prevent conflict.
