MP: The Church will be Ukrainian and “KGB priests” will not hamper it
Head of the faction
The Orthodox Church in Ukraine will be independent and Russian “KGB men in cassocks” will not interfere with this. This was announced on October 16 by head of the faction Maxim Burbak at the conciliation council, the official website of Narodnyi Front informs.
According to him, the decision of the Synod of the Constantinople Patriarchate regarding the granting of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine is recognition of the many year efforts of the Ukrainian believers.
“This is the result of hard work of the lay devotees: both Petro Poroshenko, and many MPs, including from the People’s Front faction, as well as thousands of other believers,” said Burbak.
The Parliamentarian is sure the Orthodox Church in Ukraine will be independent and will be Ukrainian.
“And no Russian KGB officers in cassocks will interfere with this. Ukraine is an independent European state. And we will not allow anyone to interfere in our church affairs, much less Moscow, which has been fighting against the entire Christian world for the fourth year,” the head of the faction said.
As the UOJ reported, MP from Narodnyi Front faction Viktor Yelensky was the author of draft law No. 4128, which actually legitimizes the actions of church raiders. In November 2017, deputy from this faction Yuriy Timoshenko confirmed that he had participated in the forceful seizure of the Orthodox temple in Kolomyia.
