The head of state expects that the autocephaly of the Church in Ukraine will be finalized legally and canonically. He said this on November 24 in Kiev at the event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor, Interfax reports.
“We expect in the near future the final legal and canonical settlement of the issue of autocephaly,” Poroshenko said.
The head of state recalled that the Synod of the Constantinople Patriarchate decided to grant autocephaly so that the Church "joined the fullness of Orthodoxy in unity and inner peace."
As the UOJ reported, the President in his official Twitter earlier corrected a record of the Phanar’s “positive decision” on granting the Tomos to Ukraine, replacing the word “Tomos” with “autocephaly”.
