The head of the State Ethnopolitics Committee Viktor Yelensky told the resource ‘Radio Kultura’ about the situation in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

"The Ministry of Culture and the Reserve (the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" – Ed.) have revealed serious violations in the operation of two temples there. Now a commission is working there to fix these violations and to eliminate them if possible," the official said.

Yelensky said that the Ministry of Culture and the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" fully adhere to the opinion that the temples are intended for prayer.

"I think that permits will be given for services in these temples, but there will certainly be no monopoly of the Moscow Patriarchate there," the head of the State Ethnopolitics Committee said.

As reported, the head of the State Ethnopolitics Committee Yelensky was outraged by complaints of priests and laity about harassment of UOC parishioners.
