Mayor of Brovary Ihor Sapozhko at a session of the Town Council, where deputies voted for the transfer of land under the Pokrovsky temple of the UOC in Trebukhiv to the OCU, read out a letter from Patriarch Bartholomew, reports Brovarymedia.

In the letter, Patriarch Bartholomew thanks the City Council for giving him the title of Honorary Citizen of Brovary.

He also mentions in the letter the unity of the Church of Constantinople and "the only, unconditional Ukrainian Church in which there is no discrimination on ethnic and linguistic grounds and criteria (the OCU – Ed.)". The head of the Phanar calls for faithful service to people and conveys his Patriarchal blessing to the voters of the town mayor and deputies.

After reading the letter, the deputies moved on to a vote on the land issue of the UOC church in Trebukhiv.

As reported, on February 23, 2023, the deputies of the Brovary Town Council supported the transfer of the land plot in the village of Trebukhiv, Kyiv region, to the OCU. Sapozhko argued that the land should be transferred to the OCU because the UOC is allegedly subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate. As confirmation, the official referred to the Statute of the Russian Orthodox Church without citing any evidence from the internal documents of the UOC confirming their affiliation with the Moscow Patriarchate.
