A cleric of the Rakoshyno Monastery of the Mukachevo Eparchy has been suspended from ministry for falling into schism.

Metropolitan Theodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod has suspended Archimandrite Seraphim (Rastvorov), a cleric of the Rakoshyno Intercession Monastery, from priestly ministry, reports the Mukachevo Eparchy.

The ruling bishop of the Mukachevo Diocese of the UOC signed Decree No. 215 regarding the cleric of the monastery in the village of Rakoshyno, Mukachevo district, for gross violation of the priestly oath and vow before the Cross and the Gospel, as well as for deviation into schism. The suspension remains in effect until the cleric's full repentance and return to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Previously, Archimandrite Seraphim had submitted a written request to the head of the Mukachevo-Carpathian Eparchy of the OCU, Viktor Bed, for admission to the clergy. On September 14, Viktor Bed made the decision to enroll the cleric and assigned him to chaplaincy service.

As the UOJ reported, a UOC cleric who had been sending draft dodgers abroad joined the OCU.
