The clergy and laity of the Belarusian Orthodox Church provide assistance to those detained and injured during the protest actions in the Republic of Belarus, reports the BOC website.

“Guided by Christ's commandment of love for one's neighbour, inseparable from love for God, the clergy and laity of the Belarusian Orthodox Church have provided and continue to provide aid to people detained and injured during the last week's protest actions in the Republic of Belarus,” the BOC says.

In the city of Minsk, a group of volunteers has been created from participants in the volunteer movement of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Tsaritsa". The volunteers receive information from all interested parties about the necessary assistance to people who were injured during the actions and ended up in hospitals, as well as to everyone released from places of detention.

Orthodox volunteers collect the necessary medicines, food and hygiene products and hand them over to hospitals and relatives of the detainees.

At the Minsk ambulance hospital, there is a chapel at the church of St. Luke of Crimea. There, on the spot, spiritual assistance and support are provided to the families of the victims. Patients in the department, if desired, receive the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

Those in need are also given spiritual help and support in the chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Tsaritsa" at the Minsk Oncology Centre.

As reported, earlier the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church published an appeal to the people of the Republic of Belarus to end the people’s confrontation.
