Metropolitan Bogolep of Oleksandria and Svitlovodsk commented on the decision of the Ukrainian Parliament to prohibit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) by stating that this action will make the whole world aware of Christians in Ukraine.

Metropolitan Bogolep, in response to the Ukrainian Parliament's adoption of bill No. 8371 in the first reading, advised Christians not to be frightened, despondent, or hysterical. He encouraged them to remain educated, calm, measured, and sensible in their response to the situation.

He acknowledged that they live in a complex time but emphasized that it is a grace-filled time. He stated that “this time is blessed, because we will prove not only to the world around us, but first of all to ourselves who we are and why we came into this world.”

Metropolitan Bogolep emphasized, "We know our Mother, we are citizens and patriots of our country, and our Church is the Church of the Ukrainian people." He believes that the prohibition of the UOC would lead to the whole world becoming aware of the Christians in Ukraine.

As the UOJ reported earlier, the Chancellor of the UOC expressed the view that the bill prohibiting the Church is a struggle against God.
