The Volyn regional authorities intend to deprive the UOC of the right to use the Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr. Such proposals were made by members of the Regional Council Commission on Legality, reports "Volyn UA".
In order to terminate the lease agreement with the UOC, which is valid until 2069, the local authorities intend to make a corresponding request to the Ukrainian government.
The Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr, Volyn, is an architectural monument of the XII-XVII centuries and is included in the state register of the National Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. The church was built in 1160 by Prince Mstislav Iziaslavich.
As reported, MP Ihor Huz initiated the seizure of the Dormition Cathedral in Volyn, as well as the Zymne and Nyzkynychi monasteries in Volyn from the UOC.
