During the morning attack by Russian ballistic missiles on Zaporizhzhia on 18 January, St Andrew's Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was heavily damaged.

As a result of the strike, the roof, dome, ceilings, windows, and classrooms at the cathedral were damaged by missile fragments.

The Zaporizhzhia Eparchy asks parishioners to help deal with the damage.

“We kindly ask all those who are not indifferent, if possible, to provide assistance and make a donation to the account of St Andrew's Cathedral!

We ask everyone who has the strength and ability to come and assist in removing the aftermath of the strike and putting things in order (please, have tools for cleaning),” writes the press service of the eparchy.

The faithful have gathered on the territory of the cathedral and are engaged in the collection of debris. Fortunately, no one was injured.

“Our duty officer, who is on duty around the clock, was there and one female parishioner who always comes early. He let her in, and when they entered, there was an explosion. Thank God, no one was hurt, but you can see for yourself what this explosion did,” said the eyewitness Fr Kostiantyn Kostiukovych.

As reported by the UOJ, on the night of 23 July 2023, the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC in Odesa was heavily damaged as a result of a Russian missile attack.
