Two churches, the monastic building, and outbuildings were damaged.
The Nicholas Archbishop's Metochion of the UOC in the village of Myropillia, Sumy region, continues to be destroyed by Russian shelling. On May 1, 2025, the Sumy Eparchy, citing videos on social media, reported that the St. Nicholas Church, a house church dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow", the monastic building, and outbuildings had been damaged.
All windows and frames were shattered, doors were destroyed, facades were mutilated, and the ceilings and roof partially collapsed. Inside the church, icons were smashed, the iconostasis was damaged, and there were glass shards, dust, and plaster debris on the floor.
"This is not just an attack on stone and wood – this is a disregard for faith, this is mockery of our spiritual heritage. The monastery shares in the tragedy of the entire village of Myropillia, which suffers daily from ballistic strikes and artillery shelling by Russia," the statement reads.
The eparchy is confident that they will restore the holy site, "because our faith is stronger than the walls".
As the UOJ reported, the St Nicholas Monastery of the UOC in Myropillia, Sumy region, was shelled by Russia on March 19, 2025.
