Bancheny Monastery of the Chernivtsi Eparchy of UOC receives 5,000 refugees
The Holy Ascension Monastery of Bancheny of the UOC (the village of Bancheny, Chernivtsi district) hosted 5,000 refugees from Kharkiv, Kyiv and Sumy, reports the UOC eparchy on its Facebook page.
Internally displaced persons from war zones are settled in the Pilgrim's House and St. Luke of Crimea’s medical clinic converted into accommodation. It is noted that the medical institution at the monastery has become a refuge for the smallest: 2+ month-old babies are staying there. Also, three pregnant women are preparing for childbirth here.
“The monks and local residents provide women and children who escaped the war with everything they need: housing, warmth, food,” the eparchy said.
In addition, the Bancheny Monastery operates its own bakery around the clock, which sends pastries to regions where the food situation is most difficult.
