Metropolitan Sergius (Gensitsky) of Ternopil and Kremenets participated in the festive celebrations in Tbilisi on the occasion of the Day of Family Holiness and Veneration of Parents on May 17, 2026. This is reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists of Georgia.

The hierarch celebrated the Liturgy at the church of Saint George the Victorious in Tbilisi. As part of the celebration, participants of the solemn prayer procession walked from the church of Saint George to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The festive Liturgy was celebrated by Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Shio III. Delegations of Orthodox Churches from various countries participated in the divine service, including Metropolitan Sergius of Ternopil.

As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, a delegation of the UOC participated in the funeral of Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia. Metropolitan Sergius also visited Tbilisi in March 2026 – at that time he arrived together with foreign delegations to express condolences in connection with the death of the Primate of the Georgian Church and to perform a memorial service at his coffin in the Patriarchal Cathedral.
