His Beatitude Onuphry: Not a single iota of compromise in matters of faith

On the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry called on the faithful to preserve the purity of Orthodox teaching, reports the  UOC Information and Educational Department.

In his sermon at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Primate highlighted that the Church is a "ship of salvation" and a "school of piety" where God abides with people. However, the devil wages war against the Church, first through persecutions, and later through heresies and schisms. The Arian heresy (a teaching that denied the divinity of Jesus Christ) posed a particular danger in the 4th century, and to overcome it, 318 bishops gathered in 325.

"Faith cannot be violated. If a person violates faith, he offends God. One must guard the purity of holy faith — every letter. It is precisely such faith that leads man to salvation," emphasized Metropolitan Onuphry.

The Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council defended the truth even in the slightest formulations of the Creed. His Beatitude called upon the faithful to love God and neighbor, to preserve the Orthodox faith in purity, and to ask for heavenly intercession from the Holy Fathers.

As the UOJ reported, His Beatitude Onuphry called church disputes on social networks inappropriate.
