The chairmanship of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations has passed to the OCU, represented by Epifaniy Dumenko. The UCCRO's final meeting was held in Kyiv under the chairmanship of Bishop Oleksandr Zan-Fabian of the Transcarpathian Reformed Church.
Participants reviewed the Council’s activities over the past six months and approved the scheduled rotation of its leadership. They noted fruitful cooperation among confessions, positive dynamics in state-confessional relations, and UCCRO’s active role in advocating for Ukraine internationally.
Council members discussed a number of legislative initiatives, including amendments to the Civil and Tax Codes of Ukraine. Representatives of the confessions also considered changes to the law on combating discrimination, particularly provisions regulating “hate speech.”
To address problems related to the mobilization of clergy, the Council plans to hold a series of consultations with relevant state authorities. Religious leaders intend to discuss technical aspects of reservations from mobilization, which currently require further coordination with government agencies.
The Council also agreed to hold ceremonial events marking the 30th anniversary of its founding in July this year. The program includes the publication of an anniversary collection of documents and the organization of an academic and practical conference in late 2026.
As the UOJ reported, UCCRO members told a European Commissioner about the two Maidans.
